Walz & Oberstar start it up again
The nominations of U.S. Senate candidates have just started, and now the process between Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer and Al Franken formally begins.
The second day of the 2008 DFL convention got underway with speeches from U.S. Reps. Tim Walz (D-MN1) and Jim Oberstar (D-MN8). Oberstar listed a variety of transportation projects he's been helping with in Washington, and in particular talked about getting a high-speed rail network across the Midwest.
DFL party chair Brian Melendez unexpectedly gave a welcome to his counterpart, GOP chair Ron Carey, who's observing events from the balcony.
