Description:
These meetings are always open discussion, bring any ideas and information to the table you please.

Last meeting we focused on the creation of a group web site and it's purpose.

1- Resources Area

This areas layout and purpose needs refining; many sites contain a wealth of information that we can guide people to. It may be a misalocation of time to recreate something that already exists. This doesn't mean the entire idea is scrap it's simply still developing.

2- Organizing Area

This area is a go. It's a remote work platform for our group and soon will organize outside action. I hope we can create a great organizing area.

Our June meetup will be Tuesday June 5 at Munkabeans.

Organizer:
Bill Sorem http://democrat.meetup.com/1094/members/771158/

Steve Kelley, former state senator from district 44, candidate for Governor and Attorney General, one of the state's experts in education and now a senior fellow at the Humphrey Institute has agreed to meet with us and talk about grass roots politics. Steve has a wealth of experience about politics in Minnesota. Laurie and I were proud to be Kelley delegates at the last DFL state convention. Who knows what might have been, we could have had a governor on our side.

Please join us for a very interesting meeting.

Anti-War Committee Report from the US Social Forum
Tuesday 7/10 @ 7pm @ Mayday Books, 301 Cedar Ave S, Mpls.

At the end of June, AWC member, Jess Sundin, will attend the US Social Forum in Atlanta, Georgia. While there, she will join with other TC activists, as well as organizers from NYC (which protested the RNC in 2004), to lead a workshop where folks from around the country can talk about what to expect at the RNC and how to get involved. The report will focus on RNC preparations, but also be a chance to hear about the growing anti-war movement around the U.S.

Minneapolis

Peter Bell
Chairman, Metropolitan Council

Gary Cunningham
Vice President, Northwest Area Foundation

R. T. Rybak
Mayor of Minneapolis

Historian Barbara Dafoe Whitehead is credited with drawing a very useful distinction between "conference table conversations" and "kitchen table conversations." In severe shorthand, the former focus mostly on politics and policies, while the latter expand to include critical questions of culture, values, faith, and personal responsibility.

Please join us for a kitchen table conversation at which three of Minneapolis' most insightful leaders talk deeply about their city, especially about its young people, many of whom are flying, but far too many of whom are drowning.

Lunch will be served, of course.

Non-Members: $30
